Michio hasn’t left his bedroom since junior high, and he should be in college by now. All his old classmates are turning twenty this year, and in Japan, that means you can vote, drink, and drive (not necessarily in that order). It also means that all across the nation, ceremonies are being held to celebrate these twenty year-olds “coming of age”.

One day, Michio gets a call out of the blue from a girl he crushed on back in school. She’s inviting him to the ceremony, and to a class reunion afterwards.

Will he go? Will he stay in his room? Wait, why is this a Junji Ito story?

Oh, that might be the part where the story takes place against a backdrop of vicious serial murders where victims are left naked and literally stitched together with fishing line.

I’ve loosely translated the title of the story as ARMY OF ONE, and I hope you like it.

The big messy finale to Hellstar Remina. Ends, beginnings, and shit flying all over the place.

The second last chapter of Remina is upon us. I think it’s at about this point where you realise there’s pretty much no time left for Ito to unscrew any of the disturbingly screwed up things in this story, so he’s just going to go all the way.

Internet situation resolved! Resuming normal service.

This chapter is actually kinda hard to read, for reasons which will become clear.

It was very easy to translate, though. “AAAAAHHHHH!”

Oof, the wait has been harsh, hasn’t it. Sorry about that.

Starting from this chapter, we get to see how much Junji Ito cares about our planet and its people. I think I saw some things in this chapter that I thought I’d never ever see.

Thanks for waiting. The translating and editing has been going steadily, but the updating has been held up by me being internetless of all things. This might continue for a while, but I might be able to sneak out a few updates stealing internet from friends and work.

Shit hits the fan in this chapter.

I know this is the real update that a lot of people wanting to read Remina have been waiting for, so here it is.

A lot of you’ve been waiting for this one!

The end of the world, as told by Junji Ito. Set in a not too distant future, but one that nevertheless includes flying cars and jetpacks. Although Ito has told apocalyptic stories before, this is probably the closest thing to a straight-ahead disaster flick he’s ever done. There isn’t bodily horror galore, but there are damsels in endless distress, cults, people losing their shit all over the place, and jaw dropping scenes of creative destruction you probably haven’t seen in the movies recently.

This first chapter, THE DREAD PLANET, sets the scene. Many of you have probably read it before, but I encourage reading it again, not just to refresh your memory but for the different translating and editing style. We’re going right to the end of the book with this style, so you might as well get used to it. For anyone planning to put any of our Remina releases on other sites, we suggest you start with this one for consistency’s sake. Please don’t just start tacking it onto another group’s release where they left off, it’s jarring for readers and irritating for both groups.

Finally, a note on sound effects. As you read on, I hope you’ll come to understand why we left them unedited – so that you can actually read the thing sometime within your lifetime, and to preserve naereid’s own sanity.
